Za’atar is a Middle Eastern herb integral
to Arabic cuisine. Biblically known as "Hyssop”, it grows naturally in the
Mediterranean basin and is typically picked in the spring and early summer.
Fresh za’atar is delicate and soft, and can be sprinkled on salads for a strong
rich taste. Dried za’atar is ground and mixed with toasted sesame seeds, salt,
lemon and sumac spice, and served at breakfast with labaneh (strained yogurt),
olives, tomatoes and cucumbers, olive oil, and pita bread. Beyond the wonderful
taste, za’atar has many health benefits: it treats cough, wheezing, gum and
tooth decay, improves blood circulation, cholesterol levels and digestion, and
relieves joint pain.
Za’atar sold by Elbabour comes from the
agricultural fields maintained by Elbabour, processed to the highest standards
and blended with high quality ingredients.
